#22 Men's Basketball Wrap up Non-Conference Play with 82-60 Win Over Miami-Middletown

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-#22 Thomas More University men's basketball team defeated Miami-Middletown on Tuesday evening (January 31), 82-60. The Saints overall record improves to 18-5.

First Half
  • Sophomore Kyle Ross (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) kicked off the scoring for the Saints by driving to the rim for a layup with 17:53 on the clock (2-4).
  • With 14:00 to play in the first half, redshirt junior Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) made a jump shot to give the Saints a 9-8 lead.
  • Sophomore Wyatt Vieth (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) knocked in a 3-point basket to help the Saints regain the lead with 4:55 on the clock in the first half (25-24).
  • Sophomore Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) hit a jump shot for the Saints final basket of the first half with 46 seconds to play (33-33).
  • The Thunderhawks would lead 36-33 going into the locker room at the half.
  • Casey George recorded 12 points and two assists to lead the Saints in the first half and had one rebound.
  • Kyle Ross brought down six rebounds to lead the team and had seven points.
  • Sophomore Jacob Jones (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) also had two assists to lead the Saints in the first half and had four points and two rebounds.
  • Wyatt Vieth had six points and three rebounds.
  • The Saints were 46.7% (14-30) from the field, 25% (3-13) from the 3-point line, and 50% (2-4) from the free throw line in the first half.
Second Half
  • Jacob Jones started the second off with a fast break lay up off a steal to make it a one point game with 19:30 to play in the game (35-36).
  • With 10:06 to play, redshirt sophomore Jalen Scott (Hebron, Ky./Conner) made a 3-point shot to out the Saints up by 16 (62-46).
  • Jacob Jones blocked a shot and drove down to the other end for a basket with 5:38 to play in the game and extend the Saints lead to 68-48.
  • Redshirt sophomore Eli Howard (Newport, Ky./Newport) drained a 3-point basket for the final basket of the game and secure the Saints 82-60 win.
  • Jacob Jones tallied 12 points to lead the Saints in the second half and had two assists and one rebound.
  • Kyle Ross led the team defensively with 12 rebounds and had 11 points and one assist.
  • Casey George had four assists to lead the Saints in the second half and had nine points and three rebounds.
  • Wyatt Vieth followed with nine points and four rebounds. 
  • The Saints were 52.8% (19-36) from the field, 31.6% (6-19) from the 3-point line, and 100% (5-5) from the free throw line in the second half.
Notables
  • Casey George led the Saints with 21 points and six assists and had four rebounds.
  • Kyle Ross recorded his second double double of the season with 18 points and 18 rebounds to lead the team and had one assist.
  • Jacob Jones followed behind with 16 points, four assists, three rebounds, and led the team with three blocks.
  • Wyatt Vieth tallied 15 points and seven rebounds.
  • The Saints were 50% (33-66) from the field, 29% (9-31) from the 3-point line, and 77.8% (7-9) from the free throw line.
