Women's Soccer Ends in Close Draw Against Mount Vernon Nazarene

(MOUNT VERNON, Ohio)- Thomas More University women's soccer team tied Mount Vernon Nazarene on Wednesday evening (September 14) 3-3. The Saints overall record is now 4-0-2.
How they scored
  • With 2:47 into the game, junior Sydney Rhodes (Lebanon, Ohio/Kings) scored a header for her first goal of the season off a cross by first year Lauren Laake (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) to put the Saints ont the board 1-0.
  • Laake followed up a bobble from the goal keeper to find the back of the net to extend the Saints lead to 2-0 with 25:20 to play in the first half.
  • Mount Vernon's Savannah Zambory scored with 39:34 on the clock to make it a 2-1 game. 
  • Mount Vernon's Zambory scored once again to tie the game up at 2-2 with 42 minutes left to play from an assist by Maddie Critzer.
  • Thomas More scored an own goal for Mount Vernon to gain the league 3-2 with 27:27 to play.
  • With 7:28 to play in the game, sophomore Lotte Derksen (Didam, Netherlands/Liemers College) finished a long free kick from junior Avery Seig (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) with a header for her first goal of the season and tied the game up at 3-3.

  • Laake tallied one goal and an assist. She also recorded three shots on goal.
  • Rhodes finished on goal in the back of the net.
  • Derksen scored her one shot on goal.
  • Seig had one assist.
  • First year Olivia Mohs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had one shot.
  • Junior Grace Armentrout (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) recorded one shot. 
  • First year Lauren Welsh (Ballycare, Northern Ireland/Ballycare) tallied four saves in goal.
