Baseball Defeats UC Clermont in Final Mid-Week Game of the Season

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University baseball team defeated UC Clermont 10-5 on Wednesday (April 20). The Saints overall record improves to 27-13. 

• In the bottom of the third inning, senior Aiden Reverman (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) scored on a bases loaded walk to put the Saints on the board 1-0. First year Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) would score on a bases loaded to extend the lead to 2-0.
• UC Clermont scored one run in the top of the fourth inning (2-1).
• Sophomore Brady Baldock (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) doubled in the bottom of the fourth inning to score senior Cooper Daniels (Frankling, Ohio/Frankling) to make it a 3-1 game. First year AJ Enginger (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) would step up to the plate and triple to send in Brady Baldock (4-1). Aj Enginger would then score on a wild pitch to extend the Saints lead to 5-1. Sophomore Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Cooper) doubled to send in Gavin Vogelgesang for the final run of the inning (6-1).
• Senior Brett Benzinger (Taylor Mill, Ky./New Richmond) scored on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth inning (7-1). Junior Jacob Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) hit a sac fly to right field to send in Gavin Pearson to make it a 8-1 game. Aiden Reverman would hit a sac fly to center field to score senior Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) to extend the score to 9-1. Aj Enginger singled to advance junior Derek Atwood (Burlington, Ky./Conner) in to score in the bottom of the sixth (10-1).
• UC Clermont scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning (10-4).
• UC Clermont scored one run in the top of the ninth inning (10-5).

• Brett Benzinger went 2-3 at the plate with two walks and scored one run.
• Jacob Caruso was 2-4 with a double and one RBI.
• Brady Baldock went 1-2 with a double, one RBI, and scored one run.
• AJ Enginger was 2-4 at the plate with a triple, two RBIs, and scored one run.
• Gavin Vogelgesang went 1-2 with a double and scored two runs.

• Junior left handed pitcher Hunter Nantz (London, Ky./North Laurel) pitched 6.0 innings, giving up one unearned run off four hits, and struck out four.
• Senior right handed pitcher Mitch Mierke (Milford, Ohio/Milford) pitched 0.1 innings, giving up three earned runs off three hits.
• Sophomore right handed pitcher Mason Berger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) pitched 0.2 innings, giving up no runs off one hit. 
• First year left handed pitcher Ben Duncan (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) pitched 1 inning, giving up no runs and no hits, and struck out one.
• Junior right handed pitcher Justin Bierbaum (Bridgetown, Ohio/La Salle) pitched 1.0 innings, giving up one earned run off two hits. 

The Saints return to the field on Friday (April 22) against Pikeville at 2:00 pm ET on Thomas More Field to close out their regular season.
