Box Score Crestview Hills, Ky. - The baseball program at Thomas More picked up their 22ndd win of the 2022 campaign by taking down Miami-Hamilton by a 10-8 score. With the win the Saints improve to 22-14 on the season.
- First-year infielder Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) would get the scoring started in the bottom of the third by singling up the middle to score Aiden Reverman () from third to take a 1-0 lead.
- Vogelgesang would come around to score in the inning via a wild pitch to take a 2-0 lead.
- Senior Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) would hit a single into right center to score Brett Benzinger (Taylor Mill, Ky./New Richmond) and Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Randall K. Cooper) to increase the lead to 4-0.
- The Harriers would add three runs in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 4-3.
- Sophomore Brady Baldock (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) would hit a two-run home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth to grow the lead to 6-3.
- Benzinger would also add to the scoring tally in the sixth with a double to score Reverman and Vogelgesang for an 8-3 lead.
- Martin would once again come up big at the plate in the bottom of the eighth with a single that would score Tucker Gray (Williamstown, Ky. / Williamstown) and Vogelgesang to take a commanding 10-3 lead.
- Miami-Hamilton would try to rally but would come up just short in the top of the ninth as the Saints would win 10-8.
- Vogelgesang led the charge offensively with three hits in four plate appearances with three runs scored and an rbi.
- Martin collected a two-for-four day with four rbi's and a walk.
- Reverman was two-for-three at the dish with two runs scored.
- Baldock went one-for-three at the plate with two rbi's and a run scored off a homer.
- Benzinger went one-for-three with two rbi's and a run scored.
- Sophomore Hunter Nantz (London, Ky. / North Laurel) picked up the win after pitching 4 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits.
- Senior Mitch Mierke (Milford, Ohio/Milford) pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing no runs on no hits while striking out two.
- Sophomore Zach Dugan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) threw one inning allowing no runs on no hits while striking out two.
- Sophomore Mason Berger (Cincinnati, Ohio / Elder) pitched one complete inning allowing no runs on no hits.
Baseball will return to the diamond on Friday, April 15 when they travel to Portsmouth, Ohio to take on Shawnee State University at 3 p.m. ET.
