Baseball Sweeps Campbellsville in Day One Series

(CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.)-Thomas More University baseball team defeated Campbellsville on Sunday (April 10) with scored 6-4 and 11-0 in eight innings. The Saints overall record improves to 21-14 and 10-7 in conference.

Game 1: Thomas More 6-4

  • Campbellsville scored on run in the bottom of the third inning (1-0).
  • Senior Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) scored on a wild pitched in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game at 1-1.First year AJ Enginger (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) singled to right center to score junior Cooper Daniels (Franklin, Ohio/Franklin) and junior Derek Atwood (Burlington, Ky./Conner) to give the Saints the lead (2-1). Sophomore Brady Baldock (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) reached first on an error to score AJ Enginger.
  • Campbellsville scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning (4-4).
  • Junior Jacob Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) grounded out to score sophomore Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Cooper) (5-4) in the top of the sixth.
  • Gavin Pearson singled to right field to score Brady Baldock to extend the Saints lead in the top of the seventh (6-4).

Game 2: Thomas More 11-0 in 8 innings

  • First year Austin Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched 1.0 innings, giving up no runs and no hits.

Game 2:

  • Sophomore Landen Scott (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) pitched 7.0 innings, giving up no runs off four hits, and struck out nine.

The Saints return to the field tomorrow (April 11) against Campbellsville at 1:00 pm ET in Campbellsville, Ky.
