Baseball Sweeps Campbellsville in Day One Series

(CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.)-Thomas More University baseball team defeated Campbellsville on Sunday (April 10) with scored 6-4 and 11-0 in eight innings. The Saints overall record improves to 21-14 and 10-7 in conference.

Game 1: Thomas More 6-4

• Campbellsville scored on run in the bottom of the third inning (1-0).
• Senior Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) scored on a wild pitched in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game at 1-1.First year AJ Enginger (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) singled to right center to score junior Cooper Daniels (Franklin, Ohio/Franklin) and junior Derek Atwood (Burlington, Ky./Conner) to give the Saints the lead (2-1). Sophomore Brady Baldock (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) reached first on an error to score AJ Enginger.
• Campbellsville scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning (4-4).
• Junior Jacob Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) grounded out to score sophomore Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Cooper) (5-4) in the top of the sixth.
• Gavin Pearson singled to right field to score Brady Baldock to extend the Saints lead in the top of the seventh (6-4).

Game 2: Thomas More 11-0 in 8 innings

• Senior Brett Benzinger (Taylor Mill, Ky./New Richmond) scored on a wild pitch in the top of the first to put the Saints of the board 1-0.
• In the top of the second, junior Noah Weingartner (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) singled to the pitcher to score AJ Enginger (2-0).
• Senior Aiden Reverman (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) scored on a passed ball in the top of the fourth (3-0). Brett Benzinger singled through the left side to send in Brady Bladock (4-0). Gavin Pearson singled to score Noah Weingartner (5-0). Brett Benzinger scored off an error hit by Bailey Martin (6-0). Jacob Caruso singled to left field to send in Bailey Marton and Gavin Pearson in the fourth (8-0).
• In the top of the fifth inning, Gavin Pearson homered to left field for a two run homer (10-0).
• Gavin Pearson would score on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh inning (11-0).

Game 1: 

• Gavin Pearson was 2-4 with one RBI and scored one run.
• Bailey Martin went 1-2 and was walked three times and scored one run.
• AJ Enginger was 2-4 at the plate and scored one run.

Game 2:

• Brett Benzinger was 2-5 with one RBI and scored two runs.
• Gavin Pearson was 3-5 with three RBIs and scored three runs.
• Brady Bladock went 2-3 and scored two runs.
• Noah Weingartner was 2-3 with one RBI and scored one run.

Game 1:

• Sophomore Mychal Grogan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) pitched 4.0 innings, giving up one earned run off three hits, and struck out five.
• Junior Justin Bierbaum (Bridgetown, Ohio/La Salle) pitched 2.0 innings, giving up three earned runs off four hits, and struck out one.
• First year Austin Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched 1.0 innings, giving up no runs and no hits.

Game 2:

• Sophomore Landen Scott (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) pitched 7.0 innings, giving up no runs off four hits, and struck out nine.
