Box Score Crestview Hills, Ky. - The baseball program at Thomas More fell to the receiving votes tigers of Georgetown College by a score of 7-1 in the single nine inning Mid-South Conference game on Friday (April 1). With the loss the Saints drop to 19-12 on the season and 7-5 in MSC play.
- Thomas More would take an early 1-0 lead as Jacob Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) would single to score Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Randall K. Cooper) from third.
- Georgetown would get on the board in the top of the third as they would have a pair of runs cross the plate to take a 2-1 lead.
- The Tigers would take a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth via a single.
- Georgetown would add three more runs in the top of the seventh to extend their lead to 6-1.
- The Tigers scored their final run of the night in the top of the eighth to bring the final tally to 7-1.
- Pearson went three-for-five at the dish with a run scored.
- Caruso added a pair of hits to his season total and also added the lone rbi for the Saints.
- Senior Brett Benzinger (Taylor Mill, Ky./New Richmond) went two-for-five in the game with a double.
- Junior Derek Atwood (Burlington, Ky./Conner) had one hit in four plate appearances.
- Sophomore Brady Baldock (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) had one hit in four plate appearances with a double.
- Sophomore right hander Mychal Grogan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing five earned runs on nine hits while striking out seven.
- Sophomore Zach Dugan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) threw 2 1/3 innings allowing one run on three hits.
Baseball returns to the diamond, tomorrow April 2, when they complete their three game series with Georgetown with a double header, first pitch is set for 12 p.m. on the Campus of Thomas More University at Thomas More Field.
