Box Score Frankfurt, Ky. - The baseball program at Thomas More defeated the Thorobreds of Kentucky State by a score of 6-3 in a single nine inning game. With the win the Saints improved to 19-10 on the year.
- Junior Jacob Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) would get the scoring started with a single to score sophomore Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Randall K. Cooper) to take a 1-0 lead.
- Senior Aiden Reverman (West Chester, Ohio / Lakota West) would draw a bases loaded walk to score senior Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) from third to increase the lead 2-0.
- Caruso would pick up another rbi in the top of the third with a sacrifice fly to drive in Martin from third for a 3-0 lead.
- Kentucky State would score their first run of the game in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 3-1.
- Martin would hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth to drive in senior Casey Nowak (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) from third to grow the lead back to three.
- Pearson would hit a single to left field to score sophomore Brady Baldock (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) to increase the lead to 5-1.
- The Thorobreds would score two runs in the bottom of the eighth to make the score 5-3 heading into the ninth.
- In the top of the ninth Caruso would cross the plate as senior Brett Benzinger (Taylor Mill, Ky./New Richmond) would put a ball in play and would reach base on an error.
- Caruso went two-for-three from the dish with two rbi's and a run scored.
- Pearson was two-for-four on the day with one rbi, one run scored, and drew a walk.
- Martin went one-for-three at the plate with two runs scored, an rbi, and was walked once.
- Benzinger went 0-2 at the plate, but would draw three walks.
- Graduate Kyle Fieger (Ft. Mitchell, Ky. / Beechwood) pitched seven innings allowing one run on seven hits while striking out four.
- Sophomore Zach Dugan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) pitched 2/3's of an inning allowing two runs on two hits.
- First-year Austin Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) threw 1 1/3 innings allowing no runs on no hits.
Baseball will return to the diamond, tomorrow March 30 when they travel to Marion, Indiana to take on Indiana Wesleyan in a single nine inning game at 3 p.m. ET.
