Box Score 2 (PULASKI, Tenn.)-Thomas More University's baseball team swept UT Southern on Saturday (March 19) in a double header series, 11-4 in game one and 8-6 in game two. The Saints overall record improves to 13-9 and 6-4 in conference.
Game 1:
- UT Southern scored one run in the bottom of the first inning (0-1).
- First year AJ Enginger (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) singled to centerfield, scoring senior Brett Benzinger (Taylor Mill, Ky./New Richmon) to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the second inning. AJ Enginger scored off a bases load walk to give the Saints the lead 2-1. Sophomore Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Cooper) would step up and single to right field to score senior Aiden Reverman (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) to extend the Saints lead to 3-1. Senior Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) stepped up next to the plate, doubling to centerfield to score Gavin Pearson, senior Casey Nowak (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) and first year Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) in the top of the second inning to put the Saints up 6-1.
- In the top of the third inning, Aiden Reverman would score on an error to extend the lead to 7-1.
- Gavin Pearson would score in the top of the fourth inning off a wide pitch (8-1). Sophomore Brady Baldock (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) hit a sac fly in the top of the fourth to score Bailey Martin (9-1).
- Brett Benzinger would step in the top of the sixth inning and hit a sac fly to send in Bailey Martin (10-1). Aiden Reverman singled to centerfield to score junior Noah Weingartner (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) (11-1).
- UT Southern would score three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Game 2:
- UT Southern scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning (0-4).
- Brady Baldock singled to left field to send in junior Derek Atwood (Burlington, Ky./Conner) (1-4) in the top of the fourth inning.
- Brett Benzinger would step up to the plate in the top of the sixth inning hit a two run homer to right field to score Brady Baldock (3-4).
- UT Southern would scored one run in the bottom of the sixth inning (3-5).
- In the top of the seventh inning, Casey Nowak would score on a wild pitch (4-5). Gavin would step up next and homer to left field to tie the game up at 5-5. Baliey Martin stepped up next and hit another home run to left field to give the Saints the go ahead run (6-5).
- UT Southern would score one run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game up once again (6-6).
- Brady Baldock singled to right field in the top of the ninth inning to score Noah Weingartner and and Gavin Pearson to secure the Saints win over the Firehawks (8-6).

- Gavin Pearson went 2-5 at the plate with a homerun, one RBI, and scored one run.
- Junior Jacob Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) was 3-5 at the plate and had three RBIs.
- Brady Baldock went 3-5 with three RBIs and scored on run.
- Brett Benzinger was 2-3 with a homerun, two RBIs, and scored one run.
Game 1:
- Sophomore right handed pitcher Mychal Grogan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) pitched 7.0 innings allowing four runs (two earned) off seven hits and struck out eight.
Game 2:
- Sophomore right handed pitcher Landen Scott (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) pitched 5.0 innings, giving up five earned runs off seven hits, and struck out five.
- Senior right handed pitcher Mitch Mierke (Milford, Ohio/Milford) pitched 2.0 innings, giving up one unearned run off one hit, and struck out one.
- First year right handed pitcher Austin Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched 2.0 innings, giving up no runs off one hits, and struck out two.
The Saints return to the field tomorrow (March 20) to close out their series against UT Southern in a single 9-inning game at 1:00 pm ET in Pulaski, Tenn.
