Game 1: Thomas More vs Rio Grande: Thomas More wins 4-3.
- Thomas More would score their first two runs of the season as Cooper Daniels and Brady Baldock would cross the plate in the top of the second to give the Saints a 2-0 lead.
- Rio Grande would score three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead heading into the fifith.
- Gavin Vogelgesang would pick up his first collegiate rbi with a single into right field that scored senior outfielder Casey Nowak to tie the game at three.
- The Saints were not done there as Vogelgesang would cross the plate when senior Bailey Martin would cause a throwing error.
- Vogelgesang and Nowak went 1-4 from the plate with one run scored each and a rbi by vogelgesang.
- Gavin Pearson would go one for two in the game with a single and a walk.
- Aiden Reverman would have the other rbi for the Saints.
- Catcher Jacob Caruso would add a double for Thomas More in the win.
- Sophomore Mychal Grogan pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing three runs on two hits.
- Senior Mitch Mierke threw for 3 1/3 innings allowing no runs on three hits and securing his first win of the 2022 campaign.
Game 2: Thomas More vs Rio Grande: Rio won 4-1.
- Rio would open up the game by scoring the first two runs with a sac fly and a double.
- Thomas More would add one of their own in the bottom of the first as Bailey Martin would drive in Nowak.
- The Red Storm scored the final two runs of the game in the fifth and sixth innings to bring the final to 4-1.
- Martin would go one for three at the plate with the lone rbi.
- First-year Ben Duncan would pick up his first collegiate hit in the bottom of the seventh in a pinch hitting appearance.
- Baldock and Reverman picked up the other two hits for Thomas More.
- Graduate Kyle Fieger threw 4.1 innings allowing three runs on seven hits.
- Sophomore Zach Dugan pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing one run on three hits.
- First-year Austin Dennis pitched one inning allowing no runs and no hits.
The Saints will return to the field tomorrow, February 6 in Johnson City when they take on West Virginia Tech at one and four eastern time.
