#1 Women's Basketball Survives a Tough Test At Freed-Hardeman

(HENDERSON, Tenn.)- The #1 ranked Thomas More Women's Basketball team defeated Freed-Hardeman on the road by a score of  67 to 60. The victory moves Thomas More to an overall record of 13-0 and a Mid-South conference record of 8-0.

  • Senior Emily Simon (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Davidson) got the Saints started with a pair of free throws to open the game.
  • After an 8 point Lion run, senior Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky. / Highlands) knocks down a three pointer off an assist from junior Rachel Martin (Cincinnati, Ohio / Summit Country Day) to make it 8 to 5 Freed-Hardeman.
  • A pair of free throws from Zoie Barth made it a 1 point game with 5 minute to go in the opening quarter.
  • Junior Alex Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mercy McAuley) knocks down a three pointer that ended the Lions 5 point run. Assist to Emily Simon.
  • At the end of the first quarter the Saints trailed 17 to 11.
  • Emily Simon got the Saints rolling to start the next quarter with a three pointer to make it 17 to 14 Freed-Hardeman.
