Women's Soccer Advances to Quarterfinals of the MSC Tournament with Win Over Pikeville

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University women's soccer team advance to the Quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament with their 5-0 win over Pikeville on Tuesday evening (November 1). The Saints overall record improves to 11-5-2 and 6-5 in conference.

How they scored
  • The Saints got off to a quick start with junior transfer Sterre Harsveld van der Veen (Utrecht, Netherlands/USG) finding the back of the net off a cross by junior Sydney Rhodes (South Lebanon, Ohio/Kings) and a quick touch by sophomore Eva Kinwel (Arnhem, Netherlands/ Beekdal Lyceum) to get the team on the board 1-0 with only 38 seconds into the game. 
  • In the 52nd minute, Sydney Rhodes would drill the ball into the net off a corner kick from senior Ryann Meddings (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) to make it a 2-0 game. 
  • Eva Kinwel would score off a pass from junior Brooke Breaker (Ross, Ohio/Ross) to extend the Saints lead to 3-0 with 56 minutes on the clock. 
  • With 4:00 minutes to play, first year Lauren Laake (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) would make a few moves around the Bears defense to find her first goal of the game to make it a 4-0 game. 
  • Laake would follow up with another goal with 2:00 minutes to play in the game off a pass from Meddings (5-0).

  • Harsveld van der Veen recorded three shots on goal with one finding the back of the net.
