(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-#1 Thomas More University women's basketball team defeated #11 Indiana Wesleyan in a top 15 NAIA Women's Basketball match up on Monday evening (October 31), 58-53. The Saints overall record improves to 1-0.
- Senior Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) made a jumper to put the Saints on the board 2-0 for their first points of the season with 8:41 to play in the first quarter.
- Junior Mattison Vickers (Covington, Ky./Simon Kenton) launched in a 3-point jumper with 5:25 to play in the first quarter to make it a 10-6 game.
- With 32 seconds left in the first quarter, Courtney Hurst would drain a three pointer for the Saints final basket of the quarter and clinch their 6-0 run over the Wildcats. The Wildcats would make a layup at the last second to put them within six (18-12).
- First year Jenna Lillard (Ludlow, Ky./Ludlow) made a jumper for the Saints first basket of the second quarter with 9:48 to play in the half (20-12).
- Junior Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) would start the Saints 9-0 run over the Wildcats with a 3-point shot with 5:06 to play (29-20).
- Courtney Hurst would close out the scoring for the Saints in the first half with a 3-point shot with 1:59 left on the clock to extend the lead to 41-24.
- The Wildcats would make two free throws at the end of the half to make it a 41-26 game into the locker room at the half.
