(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The fourth-ranked Thomas More University women's basketball team revenged its loss from earlier this week as it defeated 17th-ranked Lindsey Wilson College, 69-56, today (Saturday, January 23, 2021) in a Mid-South Conference game inside the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
- Lindsey Wilson raced out to an 8-0 lead with 7:50 to play in the first quarter when Reagan Turner made one-of-two free-throws.
- Thomas More answered with a 13-2 run to take a 13-10 lead when sophomore guard Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) made field goal with 2:53 to play in the first quarter.
- The Blue Raiders closed out the opening quarter on a 7-2 run to take a 17-15 lead after one quarter of play.
- Thomas More out-scored Lindsey Wilson 21-9 in the second half to build a 36-26 at halftime.
- The Saints shot 48.3 percent (14-of-29) from the field, including 55.6 percent (five-of-nine) from behind the three-point arc.
- Sophomore guard/forward Kenzie Schwarber (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) scored 17 points, pulled down five rebounds and had one steal in the first 20 minutes of action.
- Barth had six points, two assists, two rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.
- Sophomore guard Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) added six points and three rebounds.
- Thomas More out-scored the Blue Raiders 15-12 in the third quarter to extend the lead to 51-38 after three quarters.
- The Saints extended the lead to as many as 18 points in the fourth quarter as they went on to post the 69-59 victory.
- Sophomore guard Emily Simon (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) tallied 10 points in the final 20 minutes.
- Senior forward Briana McNutt (Maysville, Ky./Mason) scored seven points in the second half.
- Thomas More improves to 17-1 overall and 12-1 in the Mid-South.
- Lindsey Wilson falls to 12-3 overall and 7-3 in the Mid-South.
- The Saints shot 42.1 percent (24-of-57) from the field in the game, including 39.1 percent (nine-of-23) from behind the three-point arc.
- Schwarber led the Saints with a career-high 20 and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while dishing out one assist and recording two steals.
- McNutt finished with 12 points, six rebounds and one assist.
- Simon had 10 points, six rebounds and one assist.
- Hurst added nine points, three rebounds, one assist and one block.
- Barth finished with eight points, six rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and three steals.
- The Saints game scheduled against Life University on January 28 has been postponed.
- Thomas More is next scheduled to return to the court on January 30 when it travels to Pulaski, Tennessee to play Martin Methodist College at 1:30 p.m. Central/2:30 p.m. Eastern.
