(WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.) – The eighth-ranked Thomas More University women's basketball team defeated the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.), 65-63, in Williamsburg, Kentucky to extend their season-opening win streak to 10 games.
- Thomas More outscored Cumberlands 17-12 in the first quarter and extended their lead 37-22 at halftime.
- Junior guard Taylor Clos (Alexandria, Ky./ Campbell County) lead the Saints with nine points in the first half.
- Sophomore guard Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) followed behind with eight points.
- Senior Hayden White (Milford, Ohio/Milford) led the team with five rebounds.
- The saints made 39.39% (13-33) of their field goals and made 35% (7-20) of their three-point shots in the first half.
- The Saints outscored Cumberlands 50-45 through three quarters. They went on to win 65-63 in a close second half.
- Clos scored eight points in the second half.
- Cumberlands made a free throw to cut the lead to 64-63 with 14 seconds left.
- Sophomore Emily Simon (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) was fouled right after with 14 seconds left to make 1-2 free throws to secure a 65-63 lead.
- The Saints made 44% (11-25) of their fields goals and made 22% (2-9) of their three-point shots in the second half.
- Thomas More improved their record to 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the Mid-South.
- Cumberlands falls 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the Mid-South.
- The Saints made 41.38% (24-58) of their field goals and made 31.03% (9-29) of their-three point shots.
- Clos lead the team with 17 points and 5 rebounds.
- Sophomore Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky./ Highlands) followed with 13 points, eight rebounds, and one block.
- Sophomore Kenzie Schwarber (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) went 4-4 and recorded nine points and three rebounds.
- The Saints had four blocks.
- In a schedule change, the Saints will return to action on Monday (January 4) when they travel to Georgetown, Kentucky to play Georgetown College at 2 p.m.
