Box Score 2 (HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University baseball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader to Asbury University today (Saturday, February 29, 2020) at Bill Aker Baseball Complex on the campus of Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky.  Asbury won game one, 1-0, and the nightcap, 7-2.
GAME ONE
  
- Asbury plated the lone run of the game in the sixth inning.
 
- Senior pitcher Griffin Smallwood (Lakeside Park, Ky./Dixie Heights) suffered the loss as he pitched five and two-third innings and gave up one run (earned) on three hits and struck out three.
- Senior pitcher Justin Ward (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) pitched one and a third scoreless innings as he gave up two hits and struck out one.
 
- First-year designated hitter Bryce Ziegler (Silver Grove, Ky./Highlands) led the team at the plate as he was three-for-three.
GAME TWO
  
- Asbury led 6-0 after six and a half innings as it scored two in the first, one in the fifth and three in the seventh.
- In the bottom of the seventh, sophomore right fielder Aiden Reverman (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) scored on a bases loaded walk and junior shortstop Chase Keller (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) scored on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 6-2.
- Asbury scored one run in the top of the ninth and posted the 7-2 victory.
 
- First baseman Nick Moore (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oakdale (Calif.)) was two-for-two at the plate.
- First-year catcher Jacob Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) was two-for-four.
 
- Sophomore pitcher Mitch Mierke (Milford, Ohio/Milford) suffered the loss as he pitched five innings and gave up three runs (one earned) on five hits, while striking out three.
 
- The Saints return to action tomorrow when they host ninth-ranked Indiana Institute of Technology at 12 p.m. in a doubleheader at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex at Northern Kentucky University.
