(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The 14th-ranked Thomas More University women's basketball defeated Indiana Wesleyan University today (Saturday, November 7, 2020) on Senior Day at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
- Senior Hayden White (Milford, Ohio/Milford) started things off for the Saints with 9:06 remaining to play in the first quarter, taking a 2-0 lead.
- Thomas More trailed 18-13 at the end of the first quarter.
- Sophomore Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) started the second quarter off with a three to cut the Wildcats lead to 18-16.
- Sophomore Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) made a 2-pt. field goal to secure the Saints lead 35-30 at the half.
- The Saints started things off a little slow offensively, but Sophomore Emily Simon (Hillard, Ohio/Hillard Davidson) started the scoring off in the second half making two free-throws with 6:39 to go in the third quarter.
- Sophomore Summer Secrist (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott) extended the lead 49-45 with 26 seconds to go in the third quarter, but the Wildcats would make a three to make it close to end the quarter 49-48.
- Junior Taylor Clos (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) would start the fourth quarter off with a 2-pt. field goal to continue the Saints lead to 51-48.
- Sophomore Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) would make two free-throws to secure the game for the Saints with 29 seconds remaining in the game.
- Thomas More was 32.8 percent from the field, including 28.6 percent behind the arc.
- The Saints were 91.3 percent from the free-throw line.
- Simon tied for lead scorer of the game with 16 points and pulled down five rebounds.
- Hurst also led the Saints with 16 points and had three rebounds.
- Senior Briana McNutt (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) scored nine points and lead the Saints with seven rebounds and had one assist.
- Barth had eight points with four rebounds and led the Saints with three assists.
- Thomas More will return to the court on next Sunday November 15th at No. 3 Marian University at 2 p.m. in Indianapolis, Indiana.
