(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – Thomas More University sophomore guard Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) scored the first nine points of the game off three-straight three-pointers tonight (Thursday, November 5, 2020) and the 14th-ranked Saints never looked back as they posted an 85-47 win over seventh-ranked Southeastern (Fla.) University at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
- Hurst scored the first 12 of 15 points in the game as Thomas More opened the game on an 18-0 run capped by a three-pointer by junior guard Taylor Clos (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) with 4:25 to play in the opening quarter.
- Thomas More continued it's hot shooting and pressure defense the rest of the first quarter as it built a 29-3 lead after the first quarter.
- The Saints out-scored the Fire 17-9 in the second quarter as they extended the lead to 46-12 at halftime.
- Thomas More shot 43.2 percent (16-of-37) from the field in the first half, including 45.0 percent (nine-of-20) from behind the three-point arc.
- The Saints held the Fire to 12.5 percent (three-of-24) shooting from the field in the opening half.
- In the second half Thomas More extended its lead to as many as 43 points as they led 65-25 after three quarters and went on to post the 85-47 victory.
- The Saints shot 38.2 percent (13-of-34) from the field in the second half, including 33.3 percent (six-of-18) from the three-point line.
- For the game, the Saints shot 40.8 percent from the field, including 39.5 percent from behind the arc.
- Sophomore guard Emily Simon (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) led all scorers with a game-high 16 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds to go with two assists and two steals.
- Sophomore guard Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) had 14 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
- Hurst finished with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Clos had 12 points, four rebounds and two assists.
- Sophomore guard Summer Secrist (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott) had 10 points, three rebounds and four blocks.
- Thomas More will return to the hardwood on Saturday (November 7) when it hosts Indiana Wesleyan University at 1 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
- The Saints will conduct their Senior Day ceremony prior to tip-off on Saturday.
