(Crestview Hills, Ky.) – The Thomas More University women's basketball team defeated Life University on Saturday by a score of 83-71. With the win TMU improves to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
- Thomas More would open up the game with five straight three-pointers giving the Lady Saints a 15-9 lead with 5:57 remaining in the first quarter.
- First Year Maggie Jones (Piner, Ky./Simon Kenton) made two free throws to end the scoring in the first for TMU making the score 18-17 Lady Saints after one.
- Briana McNutt (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) started off the scoring from deep in the second quarter making the score 21-20 TMU.
- Sophomores Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) and Emily Simon (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) would make back to back threes giving the Lady Saints their biggest lead of the second quarter at 10 with 4:10 left in the half.
- A steal by Sophomore Kenzie Schwarber (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) would lead to a Hurst three-pointer giving Thomas More a 46-35 lead with 9:42 left in the third.
- A layup by sophomore Summer Secrist (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott) would give TMU their largest lead of the game at 17 with 1:57 remaining in the third.
- Sophomore Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) scored the first 5 points of the fourth quarter for Thomas More giving them a
- McNutt would ice the game for the Lady Saints with two free throws making the final score 83-71.
- Hurst made 8 threes, finishing the game with a team high 24 points.
- Barth had 21 points, going 12-12 from the free throw line
- Emily Simon had a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds
- Team had a 41% three point percentage for the game.
Thomas More women's basketball will return to the court for day one of the Julie Costello Memorial Classic where they will take on Saint Francis (Ind.) at the Conner Convocation Center on November 27 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
