(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University women's basketball team extended its winning streak to four games tonight (Thursday, January 23, 2020) as it defeated 12th-ranked Lindsey Wilson College, 74-56, in a Mid-South Conference game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
- The Saints led by as many as 11 points in the first half when first-year guard Summer Secrist (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott) made a lay-up with 1:53 to play to give Thomas More the 23-12 lead.
- Thomas More led 25-15 after one quarter.
- The Saints opened the second quarter on an 18-2 run capped by a three-pointer by first-year guard Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) with 4:53 to play in the quarter to extend the lead to 42-17.
- Lindsey Wilson closed the quarter on a 12-7 to cut the lead to 49-29 at halftime.
- Thomas More shot 65.5 percent (19-of-29) from the field in the first half, including 75 percent (six-of-eight) from behind the three-point arc.
- Hurst led the team in scoring in the first half 14 points.
- Senior forward Emily Schultz (Melbourne, Ky./Bishop Brossart) added 10 points.
- First-year guard Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) had seven assists.
- The Blue Raiders out-scored Thomas More 16-12 in the third period to cut Thomas More's lead to 61-45 after three quarters.
- Thomas More extended the lead to as many as 22 points in the fourth quarter before posting the 74-56 victory.
- Barth had six points in the second half.
- Secrist added six points.
- Junior guard Briana McNutt (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) scored five points in the half.
- Thomas More improved to 15-5 overall and 4-3 in the Mid-South.
- Lindsey Wilson fell to 16-4 overall and 5-2 in the Mid-South.
- The Saints had a 30-12 advantage in points in the paint.
- For the game, Thomas More shot 56.6 percent (30-of-53) from the field, including 61.5 percent (eight-of-13) from behind the three-point arc.
- Thomas More had five Saints reach double-figure scoring.
- Hurst finished with 14 points, three rebounds and one assist.
