Saints Out-Shot in 84-75 Loss to Lindsey Wilson

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) — The Thomas More University men's basketball team fell short, 84-75, against Lindsey Wilson College on Thursday night (January 23, 2020) in a Mid-South Conference game in which the two teams combined to make 32 three-pointers, including a school record-tying nine threes by Saints junior guard Luke Rudy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills).

  • Rudy scored the first eight points for the Saints, knocking down a three-pointer for the first basket of the game and following it with five free throws as Thomas More raced out to an early 8-3 lead in the game's opening minutes.
  • Lindsey Wilson took the lead with an 8-0 run, broken up by a Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) layup with 13:12 remaining in the half to make the score 15-14 in favor of the Blue Raiders.
  • Thomas More went on a 16-0 run in the final minutes of the half during which Rudy made three three-pointers and Lindsey Wilson was held scoreless for nearly six minutes as the Saints pulled ahead, 40-26, before going into halftime with a 40-28 lead.
  • The Saints shot 14-of-25 (56.0 percent) from the field and 7-of-14 (50.0 percent) from three-point range, and held the Blue Raiders to 9-of-25 (36.0 percent) from the field and 4-of-12 (33.3 percent) from beyond the arc.

  • After Lindsey Wilson extended the lead to 19 points with 2:21 to go, Thomas More continued to fight and closed the game on a 10-0 run before falling 84-75.
  • The Saints shot well in the second half, making 11-of-23 shots (47.8 percent) from the field and 8-of-14 (57.1 percent) from three-point range, but the Blue Raiders shot a red-hot 20-of-28 from the field (71.4 percent) and 13-of-17 (76.5 percent) from long range.
