Thomas More Falls to Georgetown in Final Minute on the Road

(GEORGETOWN, Ky.) – The Thomas More University football team fell, 20-19, today (Saturday, October 26, 2019) to Georgetown College in the final minute of a Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division game at Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, Kentucky.

  • Georgetown took a 7-0 lead with 1:20 to play in the quarter when Isaiah Cobb scored on a one-yard run and Tyler Dummer added the point-after-attempt.

  • With 14:29 to play in the quarter, senior quarterback Justin Post (Madedonia, Ohio/Nordonia) connected on a 29-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Johnny McNally (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) and sophomore kicker Alexander Haley (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) added the PAT.
  • The Saints took a 13-7 lead when junior running back Justin Durham (Elsmere, Ky./Lloyd Memorial) scored on a 48-yard touchdown run and Haley's PAT was no good.
  • Thomas More took a 16-7 lead into halftime when Haley made a 29-yard field goal as time expired in the second half.

  • Georgetown cut the lead to 16-14 with 6:16 to play in the quarter when Zach Dampier connected on a 34-yard touchdown pass to Jake Johnson and Dummer added the PAT.

  • Haley extended the Saints' lead to 19-14 with 13:06 to play in the game when he made a 23-yard field goal.
  • Georgetown took a 20-19 lead with 16-seconds to play in the game when Cobb scored on a one-year run and the two-point conversion failed.

  • Thomas More falls to 3-5 and 1-3 in the Mid-South Bluegrass Division.
  • Georgetown improves to 4-3 and 3-1 in the Mid-South Bluegrass Division.
  • Post finished the game 15-of-34 passing for 215 yards and a touchdown.
  • McNally had three catches for 83 yards and a touchdown.
  • Senior wide receiver Da'marco Canty (Bogart, Ga./North Oconee) had four catches for 75 yards.
  • Junior running back Monalo Caldwell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) had 21 carries for 67 yards.
  • Durham finished with four carries for 50 yard and a touchdown.
  • Sophomore linebacker Drew Bartolovich (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) led the defense with 11 tackles (seven solo/four assisted), including a tackle for a loss.
  • Senior linebacker Cody Coffey (Anderson, Ohio/Anderson) had nine tackles (three solo/six assisted).
  • Sophomore linebacker Peyton Van Horn (Hebron, Ky./Conner) had eight tackles (five solo/three assisted).

  • Thomas More returns to action next Saturday (November 2) when they travel to Bethel, Tennessee to play Bethel University at 2:30 p.m. Eastern/1:30 p.m. Central.
