DAYTON, OH – The Thomas More University football team had their final non-conference game of the season on Saturday afternoon against the University of Dayton. The Saints fall to 0-2 on the season after being defeated by the Flyers (2-0) by a score of 30-7.
 

• Dayton scored the first two touchdowns of the game but missed the second PAT.
• Quarterback Ben Chesser had a 12 yard rushing touchdown to cap off a 6 play, 75 yard drive with 4:19 remaining in the first quarter.

• Both teams traded possessions but neither team scored during the second quarter.
• Chase Terrell kept the Flyers from scoring with an interception in the endzone with 11 seconds remaining in the first half.

• Dayton scored a touchdown midway through the quarter to take a 20-7 lead.

• The Flyers took 10 plays to move 61 yards before hitting a 28-yard field goal.
• The final score of the game was a Dayton touchdown with 70 seconds remaining.

 

• Martavious Smith had 40 rushing yards on three carries with his longest being 37 yards.
• Ben Chesser had 140 passing yards, 28 total rushing yards and a touchdown.
• Numehnne Gwilly had five receptions for a total of 40 yards while Javion Bostic had three receptions for 30 yards.
• Gwilly also had a punt return for 14 yards and a kickoff return for 17 yards.
• Tahj Meadows had three tackles for loss and a sack. Tofa Luani had five solo tackles and 7 assists to lead the Saints defense.
• Avery Bodner had 9 total tackles including 4 solo tackles. Chase Terrell and Toto Luani each had 4 solo tackles.
• Chase Terrell and Kevarris Cohen both had an interception.

 

The Saints will open conference play on September 19 as they travel to face the Tiffin University Dragons. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 PM.
