Box Score (AUBURNDALE, Fla.) – The Thomas More College baseball team knocked out 14 hits today (Thursday March 9, 2017) as it defeated Beloit College, 9-4, in Central Florida Invitational game at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, Florida.
With the win, the Saints improve to 3-1 and with the loss, the Buccaneers fall to 0-1. Thomas More scored one in the second, four in the fourth, two in the seventh and two in the eighth, while holding Beloit to three runs in the first and one in the eighth.
Sophomore pitcher Ethan Kramer (Sunman, Ind./East Central) earned the win on the mound as he pitched six innings and gave up three runs (all earned) on five hits and struck out one.
Four Saints had multiple hits in the game and was led by junior designated hitter Tanner Wolfe (Cincinnati, Ohio/New Richmond), who was three-for-three with a run scored and thee runs batted-in. Sophomore shortstop Jacob Whitford (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) was three-for-four with two doubles, a triple and three runs scored, senior right fielder Ben Kenning (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-four with a triple, a run scored and a RBI and sophomore Sean Lawrence (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) was two-for-four with a RBI. Junior third baseman Bailey Abbatiello (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) was one-for-three with a home run, a run scored and three RBI.
The Saints will close out their spring break trip tomorrow when they play the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth at 9 a.m. at the Chain of Lakes Complex in Winter Haven, Florida.
