Box Score (BETHANY, W.Va.) – The Thomas More College baseball team defeated Bethany College, 7-4, today (Sunday, March 22, 2015) to complete at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) three game series sweep at Bethany Field in Bethany, West Virginia.
With the win, the Saints improve to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Bison fall to 4-8 overall and 0-3 in the PAC.
Freshman third baseman Bailey Abbatiello (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) led the team at the plate as he was four-for-five with two runs scored. Two other Saints had multiple hits in the game as freshman right fielder Ben Kenning (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was three-for-five with a double, run batted-in and a run scored and senior first baseman Nick Connor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-four with a run scored.
Junior pitcher Brandon Humphrey (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) started and had a no-decision as he pitched five innings and gave up three runs (earned) on seven hits and struck out four. Freshman Jayson Essell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) earned the win as he pitched three innings of relief and gave up one run (earned) on four hits and struck out four. Sophomore pitcher Ken Ruberg (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) earned the save as he pitched one scoreless inning and struck out one.
Thomas More returns to action on Tuesday (March 24) when it hosts Ohio Northern University at 4 p.m. at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
