Box Score (FRANKLIN, Ind.) – Freshman second baseman Bailey Abbatiello (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) hit his first career home run today (Wednesday, March 18, 2015) as the Thomas More College baseball team defeated Franklin College, 9-5, in a non-conference game at John P. McDowell Field in Franklin, Indiana.
With the win, the Saints improve to 5-3 and with the loss, the Grizzlies fall to 5-5.
Thomas More scored two in the first, three in the second, three in the third and one in the fifth, while holding Franklin to one in the second, one in the fourth, one in the fifth, one in the seventh and one in the eighth for the 9-5 victory.
Abbatiello finished the day two-for-four at the plate with the home run, four runs batted-in and one run scored. Junior shortstop Marcus Woelfel (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison) was three-for-four with a run scored and junior designated hitter Donovan Pogue (Sharonville, Ohio/St. Xavier) was two-for-four with a double, a RBI and two runs scored.
Freshman pitcher Brandon Eliadis (Laurenceburg, Ky./Anderson County) earned the win on the mound as he pitched five innings and gave up three runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out one.
The Saints return to action on Saturday (March 21) when they travel to Bethany, West Virginia for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader at 1 p.m.
