Box Score (BETHANY, W.Va.) – Senior forward Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) and sophomore forward Julia Flagge-Echols (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) each recorded a hat-trick tonight (Wednesday, October 28, 2015) as the 10th-ranked Thomas More College women's soccer team defeated Bethany College, 9-0, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at Bison Stadium in Bethany, West Virginia.
With the win, the Saints improve to 14-0-2 overall and 7-0-1 in the PAC. With the loss, the Bison fall to 2-13-1 overall and 0-8 in the PAC.
Thomas More took an early 1-0 advantage when Flagge-Echols scored off a Huber assist at the 13:52 mark. Flagge-Echols gave the Saints a 2-0 lead at the 23:40 mark when she scored unassisted. Huber scored unassisted at the 32:53 mark to give Thomas More a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Huber scored off an assist from Flagge-Echols at the 48:48 mark and 66:49 mark to extend the lead to 5-0. The Saints increased the lead to 6-0 at the 70:32 mark when junior midfielder Taylor Robinson (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) scored off a cross from junior midfielder Lauren Rose (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West). The lead grew to 7-0 at the 74:39 mark when Flagge-Echols scored her third goal of the match. Thomas More pushed the lead to 8-0 when junior midfielder Laura Felix (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) scored unassisted at the 80:16 mark. Thomas More closed out the scoring at the 83:13 mark when sophomore midfielder Rachel Smith (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) scored unassisted for the final score of 9-0.
Junior goalkeeper Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) earned her 10th shutout of the season as she played all 90 minutes of the game and didn't face a shot on-goal.
Thomas More out-shot Bethany, 31-1, including 21-0 on-goal and won the battle of corner kicks, 9-0.
The Saints close out the regular-season on Sunday (November 1) when they host Washington & Jefferson College at 11 a.m. at BB&T Field.
