Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The 14th-ranked Thomas More College women's soccer team defeated Allegheny College, 2-1, today (Saturday, November 16, 2013) in a first round match of the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 18-1-2 and advance to play 24th-ranked Hanover College in a second round match tomorrow at 12 p.m. at The Bank of Kentucky Field. With the loss, the Gators finish the season at 11-6-4.
Thomas More took a 1-0 lead at the 27:07 mark when senior forward Courtney Clark (Burlington, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) scored off a throw in by sophomore forward Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic).
The Saints increased the lead to 2-0 when Huber scored off an assist from senior midfielder Kirstie Reilman (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) at the 77:16 mark. Jessie Thiessen scored off a Liana Leja assist at the 89:33 mark of the Gators, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More won, 2-1.
Freshman goalkeeper Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) played all 90 minutes in goal and allowed one goal, while recording four saves.
Thomas More out-shot Allegheny, 14-6, including 6-5 on-goal and won the battle of corner kicks, 7-2.
