Box Score (COLUMBUS, Ohio) - The Thomas More College women's soccer team posted a 2-0 shutout win over Capital University today (Monday, September 3, 2012) in a non-conference match at Bernlohr Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
With the win, the Saints improve to 2-0 on the season and with the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-2.
Thomas More took an early 1-0 lead at the 21:51 mark when sophomore midfielder Sam Work (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) scored off a cross from the right side from senior forward Lauren Wietmarschen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain).
The Saints added an insurance goal at the 86:14 mark to increase the lead to 2-0 when freshman forward Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) scored off an assist from Wietmarschen.
Freshman goalkeeper Abbie McBride (Lakeville, Ind./LaVille) earned the win in goal as she played all 90 minutes and posted the shutout with two saves.
Thomas More out-shot Capital, 18-6, including 6-2 on-goal. The Saints also won the battle of corner kicks, 4-2.
The Saints return to action on Saturday (September 8) when they host Trine University at 1 p.m. at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
