Box Score (BETHANY, W.Va.) - The Thomas More College baseball team defeated Bethany College, 16-2, today (Tuesday, April 3, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Bethany Park in Bethany, West Virginia.
With the win, the Saints improve to 14-6 overall and 6-3 in the PAC. With the loss, the Bison fall to 7-12 overall and 4-8 in the PAC.
The Saints scored four in the second, four in the fourth, six in the eighth and two in the ninth, while holding Bethany to one in the first and one in the sixth for the 16-2 victory.
On the mound, freshman Tim Baldrick (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) earned the win as he pitched six innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and struck out two.
The Saints were led at the plate by sophomore right fielder Cody Makin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder), who was four-for-five with a double, three runs batted-in and two runs scored. Three other Saints had multiple hits in the game as junior center fielder Grant Lewis (Mason, Ohio/Mason) was three-for-four with a RBI and a run scored, junior shortstop David Kennett (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) was two-for-seven with a run scored and sophomore second baseman Jason Handley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was two-for-five with two RBI and a run scored.
The Saints return to action (Wednesday, April 4) when the play a single nine-inning game with Saint Vincent at 3 p.m. in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
