Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The 19th-ranked Thomas More College baseball team defeated 12th-ranked Adrian College, 9-7, today (Sunday, March 18, 2012) in two-game series finale at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 8-2 and with the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 7-2.
The Saints scored one in the third, four in the fifth, and four in the seventh and held the Bulldogs to two in the fifth and five in the ninth for the 9-7 victory.
Junior Grant Lewis (Mason, Ohio/Mason) earned the win on the mound as he pitched five inning and gave up two runs (both earned) on five hits and struck out one. Sophomore Andy Roenker (Taylor Mill, Ky./Holy Cross) pitched three innings of relief and retired all nine batters he faced, including five strike outs.
Offensively, four Saints had multiple hits in the game as junior shortstop David Kennett (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) went two-for-five with three runs scored, junior designated hitter Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) went two-for-four with two runs batted-in and two runs scored, senior first baseman Andrew Thole (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) went two-for-four with a double, a RBI and two runs scored and sophomore third baseman Travis Miller (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) went two-for-three with a double a RBI and a run scored.
Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (March 21) when it travels to Hanover, Indiana to play Hanover College at 4 p.m.
