Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The 19th-ranked Thomas More College baseball team plated seven runs today (Saturday, March 17, 2012) but it wasn't enough as the Saint fell, 15-7, to 12th-ranked Adrian College at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 7-2 on the season and with the win, the Bulldogs improve to 7-1 on the season.
Adrian scored four runs in the second, three runs in the third, three in the fifth, two in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth, while Thomas More plated one in the first, two in the third, one in the fourth and three in the seventh.
Three Saints had multiple hits in the game as junior shortstop David Kennett (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) was two-for-five with a double and two runs scored, senior first baseman Andrew Thole (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) was two-for-five with a run scored and sophomore third baseman Travis Miller (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) was two-for-four. Junior designated hitter Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) and junior center fielder Brandon Nutini (Edgewood, Ky./Covington Catholic) each had a home run in the game.
The Saints used six pitchers and senior Aaron Carmack (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) suffered the loss as he pitched two innings and gave up five runs (two earned) on four hits and struck out five.
Thomas More and Adrian will close out their two-game non-conference series tomorrow with nine inning game starting at 1 p.m. at Thomas More Field.
