Box Score (WAYNESBURG, Pa.) - The 19th-ranked Thomas More College women's soccer team defeated Waynesburg University, 2-1, tonight (Saturday, October 27, 2012) at Wiley Stadium in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania to post an undefeated Presidents' Athletic Conference record.
With the win, the Saints improve to 18-1 overall and 9-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 9-8-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the PAC.
Waynesburg took a 1-0 lead at the 69:25 mark when Taylor Bobalski scored on a free kick. The Saints answered at the 72:47 mark when junior midfielder Emily Sanker (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) scored off an assist from senior forward Lauren Wietmarschen (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) to even the score at 1-1. Junior forward Courtney Clark (Burlington, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 84:50 mark on a penalty kick.
Freshman goalkeeper Abbie McBride (Lakeville, Ind./LaVille) played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded four saves, while allowing one goal.
Thomas More out-shot Waynesburg, 22-8, and won the battle of corner kicks, 10-2.
The Saints have earned the No. 1 seed in next week's PAC tournament and will host No. 4 seed Waynesburg on Wednesday (October 31) in a semi-final match at The Bank of Kentucky Field.
