Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Junior defender Abby Gindling (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Thomas More College women's soccer team to a 8-0 shutout win over Anderson University today (Saturday, September 3, 2011) at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 1-1 and with the loss, the Ravens fall to 0-1.
Thomas More took a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute when freshman midfielder Sam Work (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) scored on a corner kick. Gindling then gave the Saints a 2-0 lead when she scored off a cross from sophomore forward Courtney Clark (Burlington, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) at the 23:03 mark. Thomas More increased the lead to 3-0 when junior midfielder Sarah Lankord (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) scored unassisted in the 29th minute. Gindling scored her second goal of the match at the 32:21 mark to increase the lead to 4-0. Thomas More extended the lead to 5-0 when freshman forward Allison Crossley (Fairfield, Ohio/Badin) scored off a pass from Gindling at the 38:57 mark. The Saints increase the lead to 6-0 at halftime when freshman midfielder Jordan Wheeler (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East).
In the second half, Thomas More increased the lead to 7-0 when Clark scored off a cross from senior midfielder Sara Harrison (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton). In the 78th minute the Saints got an own goal from Anderson for the final score of 8-0.
Senior goalkeeper Katie Burger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) played all 90 minutes in goal and didn't allow a goal.
Thomas More out-shot Anderson 28-0 and won the battle of corner kicks, 12-0.
The Saints return to action next Saturday (September 11) when they play Birmingham Southern University at 12 p.m. in Hanover, Indiana.
