Strong Third Quarter Allows Saints to Hold Off Dragons in Regular Season Finale

(TIFFIN, OH) – The Thomas More University men's lacrosse team defeated Tiffin in the regular season finale on Tuesday (April 21) by a score of 13-11 after a strong third quarter performance and holding off a Dragon comeback attempt in the fourth quarter. The Saints move to 7-8 on the season and 5-5 within the conference.
 
How they scored
  • Tiffin scored the first two goals of the game. The Saints tied the game with goals from junior Noah Koenig (Erlanger, KY / Dixie Heights) and redshirt sophomore Bryce Collins (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy / Mercyhurst) heading into the second quarter.
  • Senior Spencer Lethbridge (Cleveland, OH / Olmsted Falls) scored a goal after Tiffin took a brief 3-2 lead.
  • The Dragons had their largest lead with a 5-3 lead with 9:34 remaining in the first half.
  • Three straight goals from Thomas More gave them a 6-5 lead. Senior Joe Mariani (Warners, NY / Mater Dei Academy / Onondaga CC) had one goal and one assist while Spencer Lethbridge had two goals and an assist.
  • Right before halftime, the Dragons tied the game and then got a man-up goal within the first thirty seconds of the third quarter.
  • Thomas More then scored five goals to take a 11-7 lead. Senior James Kendrick (Springboro, OH / Springboro), Bryce Collins (2), sophomore Colin Scalise (Worthington, OH / Thomas Worthington), and Noah Koenig all scored while Spencer Lethbridge had three assists.
  • Spencer Lethbridge found the back of the net against at the 11:12 mark of the fourth quarter before Noah Koenig scored to give Thomas More a 13-8 lead.
  • The Dragons attempted a comeback within the last seven minutes but the Saints defense held strong
