Saints swept by Malone in Friday's doubleheader

(Canton, Ohio) – The Thomas More University softball team lost both games to Malone on Friday (March 27) in conference play. The Saints lost 10-2 in game one (5-innings) and fell 3-1 in game two. They now have an overall record of 11-15 and are 1-3 in conference. 
 
How they scored
Game one: Thomas More lost 10-2 (5-innings). 
  • In the top of the 5th inning, senior Sophia Thoma (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) doubled to left to score first year Allie Cunningham (Cincinnati, Ohio/West Clermont) and sophomore Dani Oldfield (Walton, Ky./Walton Verona) to make the score 10-2. 
Game two: Thomas More lost 3-1. 
  • In the top of the 4th inning, first year Alisha Fox (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mason) flew out to right to score sophomore Haylee Palmer (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) to make the score 3-1.

Game one 
  • First year Alisha Fox pitched 1.1 innings, allowing eight earned runs on six hits, and struck out one. 
  • Junior Becca LeMay (Pickerington, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) pitched 1.2 innings, allowing no earned runs on three hits, and struck out three. 
  • First year Kendyl Feutz (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North) pitched 1.0 innings, allowing no earned runs on one hit, and struck out two.  
Game two 
  • Junior Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 2.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits. 
  • Sophomore Avery Gottlieb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched 3.2 innings, allowing no earned runs on one hit.
