Saints fall in G-MAC opener

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY) – Thomas More University's men's lacrosse team fell in their conference opener to Northwood by a score of 18-5 on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 28). The Saints fall to 1-3 on the season and 0-1 against Great Midwest Athletic Conference opponents.
 
How they scored
  • Senior Spencer Lethbridge (Cleveland, OH / Olmsted Falls0 earned the assist as senior Jame Kendrick (Springboro, OH / Springboro) found the net, cutting into the 5-1 lead by the Timberwolves.
  • Northwood scored five more goals before Thomas More had three straight. Those goals came off the sticks of senior Joe Mariani (Warners, NY / Mater Dei Academy / Onondaga CC), junior Aspen Cameron (Plain City, OH / Jonathon Alder), and freshman Eric Wong (Union, KY / Cooper). Spencer Lethbridge earned his second assist on Aspen Cameron's goal. At halftime, Northwood had a 10-4 lead.
  • The Timberwolves scored their final eight goals before redshirt sophomore Bryce Collins (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy / Mercyhurst) had the last goal of the game with 2:25 remaining.

  • All five goals for Thomas More came from five different players: James Kendrick, Aspen Cameron, Bryce Collins, Joe Mariani, and Eric Wong.
  • Spencer Lethbrigde had two assists.
  • As a team, the Saints won 17 of the 26 face offs and had 23 ground balls. Junior Stephen Schodowski (Chula Vista, CA / St. Augustine) won 11 face-offs and had seven ground balls. Junior Mario Hill (Chicago, IL / Loyola Academy) had six face off wins and six ground balls.
  • Sophomore Baker Ebner (Jackson, MS / Jackson Academy) had 9 saves in his start as goalkeeper.

The Saints will travel to Painesville, Ohio to take on Lake Erie next Saturday (March 7). The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
