Men's Basketball Falls to Malone in Heartbreaker

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's men's basketball team fell to Malone, 59-58. The Saints overall record falls to 11-13 and 5-12 in conference.

• First year Tyler Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) banged in a 3-point shot to start the scoring off for the Saints to make it a 3-5 game with 17:33 on the clock.
• With 15:23 to play in the half, redshirt sophomore Kai Simpson (Lexington, Ky./Fredrick Douglass) drove to the rim for a layup to put cut the Pioneers lead to three (5-8).
• Redshirt sophomore Jack McCune (Paducah, Ky./McCracken County) made a 3-point shot to make it a 13-18 game with 9:36 to play in the half.
• Sophomore Jashaun Pouncy (Erlanger, Ky./Cooper) drove to the basket for a layup with 5:18 remaining (20-23).
• Senior Mitchell Rylee (Covington, Ky./Covington Catholic) hit a jumper with 1:46 to play for the Saints final basket of the half (25-31).
• The Saints would trail 36-25 at the half.
• Jashaun Pouncy led the Saints with five points and two assists.
• The Saints were 43.5% (10-23) from the field, 30.8% (4-13) from the 3-point line, and 25% (1-4) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Redshirt first year Daniell Allen (Hodgensville, Ky./Larue County) made a layup with 19:04 on the clock to make it a 27-39 game.
• Senior Ryan Paris (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) drained a 3-point basket to put the Saints within four with 15:33 to play.
• With 10:14 to play, Daniel Allen made three free throws to put the Saints up 48-46.
• Kai Simpson drove to the rim for a layup with 5:54 to play to extend the Saints lead to 56-49.
• Mtichell Rylee made a layup with 1:27 to remaining for the Saints final basket of the game to make it 58-56.
• The Saints would fall 59-58 to the Pioneers.
• Kai Simpson led the Saints with 10 points and three assists and had four rebounds in the second half.
• Daniel Allen led the team with eight points and seven rebounds.
• The Saints were 50% (11-22) from the field, 37.5% (3-8) from the 3-point line, and 88.9% (8-9) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Daniel Allen tallied nine rebounds and had seven points.
