Men's Basketball Falls in a Heartbreaker to ODU

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's men's basketball team fell to ODU on Monday (Jan 5), 62-61. The Saints overall record falls to 7-5 and 1-4 in conference.

• Redshirt junior Colin McHale (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) drained a 3-point basket to kick things off with 19:43 on the clock to make it a 3-0 game.
• Senior Mitchell Rylee (Ft.Mitchell, Ky./Covington Catholic) drove to the rim for a layup to put the Saints up by five (10-5) with 15:04 to play in the half.
• Junior Carson Browne (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) hit back to back 3-point shots in the middle of the first half to extend the Saints lead to 16-8.
• With 6:04 to play, Mitchell Rylee made a layup to put the Saints within three (18-21).
• Colin McHale made a tip in and one for the Saints final basket of the half with 2:43 to play (24-29).
• The Saints trailed 33-24 at the half.
• Redshirt sophomore Kai Simpson (Lexington, Ky./Frederick Douglass) led the team with eight points and four rebounds.
• The Saints shot 32.1% (9-28) from the field, 33.3% (5-15), and 100% (1-1) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Kai Simpson knocked in three free throws to start things off in the second half with 18:41 on the clock to make it a 27-35 game.
• With 14:21 to play, Colin McHale drove to the rim for a layup to put the Saints within eight (35-43).
• Redshirt first year Daniel Allen (Hodgenville, Ky./Larue County) drained a 3-point shot in the middle of the half to kick off his six straight threes to help the Saints regain the lead (59-49).
• Mitchell Rylee made a dunk with 2:15 to play for the Saints final bucket of the game (61-55).
• The Saints fell 62-61 to the Panthers.
• Daniel Allen led the Saints in the second half with 19 points and four rebounds.
• The Saints were 46.2% (12-26) from the field, 60% (9-15) from the 3-point line, and 100% (4-4) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Kai Simpson led with seven rebounds and had 14 points and three assists.
• Colin McHale recorded six assists to lead the team and had eight points and four rebounds.
