Men's Basketball Falls to Lake Erie on the Road

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio)-Thomas More University's men's basketball team fell to Lake Erie on Saturday (Jan 31), 91-86. The Saint overall record 10-10 and 4-9 in conference.

• Sophomore Jashaun Pouncy (Erlanger, Ky./Cooper) laid a ball in to put the Saints on the board 2-0 with 19:38 on the clock.
• With 14:29 to play in the half, junior Carson Browne (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) banged in a 3-point basket to extend the Saints lead to 16-9.
• Redshirt sophomore Kai Simpson (Lexington,  Ky./Frederick Douglass) knocked in a 3-point shot with 10:41 to play in the half to make it a 21-12 game.
• First year Colin McClure (Columbus, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) made a driving layup to give the Saints a 26-24 lead with 6:41 to play in the first half.
• Senior Ryan Paris (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) hit a 3-pointer to put the Saints within three with 1:20 to play for the Saints final basket of the half.
• The Storm would lead 47-41 at the half.
• Kai Simpson led the team with 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists in the first half.
• Jashaun Pouncy followed with eight points and three rebounds.
• The Saints were 44.1% (15-34) from the field, 29.4% (5-17) from thr 3-point line, and 75% (6-8) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Kai Simpson drove to the rim for a layup to start things off for the Saints with 19:35 on the clock (43-49).
• With 16:27 to play, redshirt first year Daniel Allen (Hodgensville, Ky./Larue County) made back to back layups and an and one to put the Saints back ahead 56-54.
• Jashuan Pouncy made a layup with 10:39 to play to put the Saints up 66-65.
• Jashuan Pouncy drove the basket for a layup to cut the Storm's lead to 77-80 with 4:42 remaining in the game. 
• Colin McClure knocked in a 3-point basket with 25 seconds on the clock for the Saints final basket of the game (86-88).
• The Saints would fall 91-86 to the Storm.
• Jashaun Pouncy talled 10 points to lead the team and had two rebounds and one assist in the second half.
• Daniel Allen also tallied 10 points and three rebounds to lead the team.
• The Saints were 39.4% (13-33) from the field, 35.7% (5-14) from the 3-point line, and 73.7% (14-19) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Kai Simpson led the team with 23 points, five assists, and six rebounds.
• Jashaun Pouncy followed with 18 points, five rebounds, and one assist.
• Ryan Paris had 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
• Daniel Allen recorded 13 points and four rebounds.
• The Saints were 41.8% (28-67) from the field, 32.3% (10-31) from the 3-point line, and 74.1% (20-27) from the free throw line.

The Saints return Thursday (Feb 5) at Ashland beginning at 7:30 pm ET.
