Women's Basketball Bounces Back against Kentucky Wesleyan

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's women's basketball team defeated Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday evening (Jan 22), 67-50. The Saints overall record improves to 15-2 and 7-2 in conference.

First Half
  • Junior Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, Ohio/Tri-Village) made a layup with 9:44 on the clock to put the Saints on the board 2-0.
  • Halfway through the first quarter, junior Desiree Tandy (Danville, Ky./Danville) hit a jump shot to make ita 6-3 game.
  • Desiree Tandy would make the Saints final point of the quarter with a free throw with 22 seconds left to put the Saints up 16-8.
  • The Saints would lead 16-10 at the end of the first quarter.
  • Senior Sereniti Webb (Covington, Ky./Simon Kenton) drove to the rim for a layup for the Saints first basket of the quarter to extend the lead to 18-12.
  • With 5:39 to play in the half, senior Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) hit a jump shot to put the Saints up 29-16.
  • Rylee Turner made the final basket of the quarter with a layup to give the Saints a 40-20 lead going into the locker room at the half.

  • Rylee Leonard knocked in two free throws for the Saints final points of the quarter with 16 seconds to go to give the Saints a 53-33 lead going into the final quarter.
  • Sereniti Webb made a layup to kick of the fourth quarter for the Saints to extend their lead to 55-36 with 8:04 to play.
  • With 5:55 to play in the game, sophomore Amara Jackson (Huntington, WV/Huntington) drove to the rim for a basket to put the Saints up 62-38.
  • Sophomore Macy Oberlin (Angola, Ind./Angola) made her first career basket with a layup as time expired to secure the Saints 67-50 victory over the Panthers.
  • Sereniti Webb recorded eight points to lead the team and had two rebounds.
  • Rylee Turner tallied five rebounds to lead the Saints in the second half.
  • The Saints were 42.3% (11-26) from the field and 55.6% (5-9) from the free throw line in the second half.
