Men's Basketball Falls on the Road at ODU

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)-Thomas More University's men's basketball team fell to ODU on Thursday evening (Jan 15), 66-55. The Saints overall record falls to 8-7 and 2-6 in conference.
First Half
  • Redshirt sophomore Kai Simpson (Lexington, Ky./Frederick Douglass) drained a 3-point basket to get the Saints on the board with 17:04 on the clock (3-7).
  • Redshirt first year Daniel Allen (Hodgensville, Ky./Larue County) drove to the rim for a layup to put the Saints within three with 14:17 to play in the half (7-10).
  • With 9:22 to play in the half, Kai Simpson made layup to make it a11-22 game.
  • Sophomore Jashaun Pouncy (Erlanger, Ky./Cooper) laid a ball in for a basket with 4:28 remaining (19-33).
  • Senior Ryan Paris (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) hit a jumper for the final basket of the second half with seven seconds left in the half (28-39).
  • The Saints would trail 39-28 going into the locker room at the half.
  • Daniel Allen led the team with 11 points and had two rebounds in the first half.
  • Kai Simpson also tallied 11 points to lead the team and had two rebounds.
  • The Saints were 34.4% (11-32) from the field, 16.7% (2-12) from the 3-point line, and 50% (4-8) from the free throw line in the first half.
Second Half
  • Jashaun Pouncy hit a jumper with 17:50 on the clock to get things started for the Saints in the second half to make it a 30-42 game.

  • Senior Mitchell Rylee (Ft. Mtichell, Ky./Covington Catholic) led the Saints with 10 points in the second half and had two rebounds and one assist.
  • Daniel Allen tallied six rebounds to lead the team and had seven points.
