(Crestview Hills, Ky.)– Thomas More University announced today (Jan 12) the elimination of men's volleyball as an NCAA sport following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.
"This was a difficult decision, but necessary as we recognize the challenges of conference affiliation as an NCAA sport and increased travel which results in more missed classes," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Terry Connor. "As we begin competition as a full member of the NCAA Division II and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), continuing men's volleyball at a time when relatively few sponsoring institutions exist within our region does not align with the vision of Thomas More Athletics and our commitment to ensuring student-athletes have the very best academic and athletic experience," Connor added.
The University will honor all current men's volleyball student-athlete scholarships.
Men's volleyball was re-launched by Thomas More in 2019, returning after a hiatus since the mid-1990's. The team currently competes as an associate member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), as men's volleyball is not sponsored by the G-MAC.
"I would like to express my gratitude to all of our student-athletes, coaching staff, and fans for their involvement and dedication to the men's volleyball program over the years," Connor shared.
