Men's Basketball Falls to Hillsdale

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's men's basketball team fell to Hillsdale on Saturday afternoon (Jan 10), 54-51 . The Saints overall record falls to 8-6 and 2-5 in conference.

• Junior Carson Browne (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) banged a 3-point basket to get things started with 19:28 on the clock to put the Saints on the board 3-0.
• Senior Mitchell Rylee (Ft.Mitchell, Ky./Covington Catholic) knocked in two free throws to tie things up 5-5 with 16:56 to play in the half.
• Sophomore Jashuan Pouncy hit a jump shot to put the Saints within six (11-17) with 10:54 left in the half.
• Redshirt junior Colin McHale (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) drove to the rim for a layup to make it a 20-26 game with 4:27 on the clock.
• Redshirt sophomore Kai Simpson (Lexington, Ky./Frederick Douglass) made a jump shot as time expired to cut the Chargers lead to 33-38 at the half.
• Kai Simpson led the team with 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists in the first half.
• Redshirt first year Daniel Allen (Hodgenville, Ky./Larue County) also tallied four rebounds to lead the Saints.
• The Saints were 45.8% (11-24) from the field, 20% (1-5) from the 3-point line, and 83.3% (5-6) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Kai Simpson laid in a basket to get things started for the Saints in the second half with 19:28 on the clock (30-35).
• With 14:03 to play, Daniel Allen banged in a 3-point shot to tie things up 40-40.
• Kai Simpson made a layup and one to cut the Chargers lead to four with 6:54 remaining.
• Daniel Allen knocked in a 3-point basket with 11 seconds remaining for the Saints final basket of the game (51-54).
• Kai Simpson led with 12 points and five rebounds.
• The Saints were 24.2% (8-33) from the field, 28.6% (4-14) from the 3-point line, and 50%(3-6) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Kai Simpson led the Saints with 22 points, nine rebounds, and two assists.
• Colin McHale followed with 10 points, four rebounds, and one assist.
• The Saints were 33.3% (19-57) from the field, 26.3% (5-19) from the 3-point line, and 66.7% (8-12) from the free throw line.

The Saints return next Thursday (Jan 15) at ODU beginning at 7:30 pm ET.
