Mariani Posts a Hat Trick in Saints Loss to Wheeling

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY) - The Men's Lacrosse team at Thomas More took on Wheeling on Saturday (March, 22nd) afternoon. The Saints fell by a final score of 17 to 8. Thomas More moves to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in G-MAC play.

• Graduate student Wyatt Fruland (Cincinnati, OH / Indian Hill) got the scoring started with a goal off an assist from junior James Kendrick (Springboro, OH / Springboro).
• Wheeling responded with 4 straight goals to take the lead.
• Thomas More goes on a scoring run started by James Kendrick off an assist from junior Graham Houser (Hilliard, Oh / St. Charles).
• Junior Joe Mariani (Warners, NY / Mater Dei) continued the run with a goal off an assist from sophomore Noah Koenig (Erlanger, KY / Dixie Heights) (3-4).
• Thomas More would get three more straight goals from James Kendrick, junior Spencer Lethbridge (Cleveland, OH / Olmsted Falls) and Joe Mariani to take a 6 to 4 lead.
• Wheeling scored 4 goals to retake a 8 to 6 lead.
• Graham Houser ends the Wheeling run with a goal off an assist from Wyatt Fruland to make it a one goal game.
• After three more Wheeling goals, Mariani finds the back of the net to make it 11 to 8.
• Wheeling ends the game with 6 more goals.

• Joe Mariani posted a team high 3 goals in the game. He also had 2 ground balls.
• James Kendrick posted 2 goals and an assist with a ground ball.
• Wyatt Fruland and Graham Houser both recorded a goal and an assist.

Thomas More returns on Wednesday (March, 26th) when they travel to Williamsburg, KY to take on Cumberlands. That will start at 5:00 PM.
