Saints Take Down Kentucky Wesleyan on Senior Day

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY) - The women's basketball program at Thomas More University took on the Kentucky Weslayan Panthers on Saturday (March,1st). Thomas More takes down the Panthers by a final score of 87 to 59. Thomas More finishes the regular season with an overall record of 11-17 and a G-MAC record of 8-12.

• First year Anna Drakeford (Harrodsburg, KY / Mercer County) made a layup to get the scoring started and putting the Saints in front.
• Sophomore Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, OH / Tri-Village) makes a layup, and Anna Drakeford followers with a jumper to make it 6 to 2 Saints with 8:14 to go in the first.
• Morgan Hunt ends a Panther run with a layup, and junior Alaina Keeney (Wheelersburg, OH / Wheelersburg) followed with a three pointer to make it a 13 to 8 game midway thru the first.
• Junior Rylee Turner (Newport, KY / Newport Central Catholic) makes a layup for her first points of the game and giving the Saints a 9 point lead.
• Morgan Hunt hits a three pointer and makes a layup to make it a 22 to 13 game with 1:10 to go in the first.
• Anna Drakeford makes a layup and sends us to the second quarter with the Saints in front 24 to 15.
• Sophomore Laney Baker (West Harrison, OH / East Central) got the Saints started again in the second quarter with a layup to keep the lead at 8.
• Senior Callie Hunt (Trenton, OH / Edgewood) drains back to back three pointers with 5:39 to go in the half to put the Saints in front by 9.
• Junior Natalie Noel (Salem, IN / Salem) knocks down a three pointer to make it a 40 to 26 lead for the Saints.
• Thomas More leads at halftime 48 to 31.
• Morgan Hunt recorded a team high 11 points in the first half to go with a team high 8 rebounds.
• Thomas More shot 18-36 (50%) from the field, 5-16 (31.3%) from three and 7-8 (87.5%) from the free throw line in the half.

• Alaina Keeney makes the first bucket of the second half to put the Saints up 19.
• Two buckets from junior Sereniti Webb (Covington, KY / Simon Kenton) and a three from Anna Drakeford puts the Saints up 57 to 36 with 7:01 left in the third.
• Rylee Turner scores back to back buckets for the Saints and they lead 64 to 42.
• Callie Hunt knocks down her third triple of the day off an assist from Natalie Noel to make it a 23 point Saint lead.
• Thomas More leads 72 to 53 after three.
• Sereniti Webb scores the first bucket for the Saints in the final quarter as they lead 74 to 57.
• A layup from Webb and a Keeney three finds the Saints up 22 with 6:42 to play.
• Senior Paige Ledford (Osgood, IN / Jac-Cel-Del) makes a turn around jumper with 4:36 to play to make it 85 to 57.
• Ledford makes a layup in the paint to make it an 87 to 59 Saint victory.
• Thomas More shot 35-66 (53%) from the field, 8-23 (34.8%) from three and 9-15 (60%) from the free throw line for the game.

• Sereniti Webb led the Saints with 20 points in the contest to go with 7 rebounds.
• Morgan Hunt posted a double double with 13 points and a team high 13 rebounds.
• Callie Hunt hit three three pointers in the game to go with 3 rebounds.
• Alaina Keeney and Rylee Turner both finished in double figures in the game.

• With the victory, Thomas More clinched a spot into the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament. The time and location of the next game is to be determined.
