Women's Basketball Drops to Tiffin in Saturday Action

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY)- Thomas More University's women's basketball team faced off against the Tiffin Dragons on Saturday (February, 8th). The Saints fall to the Dragons by a final score of  56 to 52. Thomas More falls to an overall record of 8-15 on the season and 5-10 in G-MAC play.

• Junior Sereniti Webb (Covington, Ky./Simon Kenton) got the scoring started with a rebound and put back to put the Saints in front 2 to 0.
• With 4:34 to go in the opening quarter, junior Rylee Turner (Newport, KY / Newport Central Catholic) makes a layup to give the lead back to the Saints at 6 to 5.
• Sophomore Laney Baker (West Harrison, Ind./East Central) knocks down a three pointer to end a Tiffin run as the Saints trail by 2.
• Sereniti Webb makes a layup off an assist from Laney Baker and Thomas More trails at the end of the first quarter by a score of 13 to 12.
• Sereniti Webb scores inside off a pass from Rylee Turner to open the second quarter and puts the Saints in front by one.
• Senior Callie Hunt (Trenton, OH / Edgewood) hits a three pointer off an assist from sophomore Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, OH / Tri-Village) to tie the game at 17.
• Morgan Hunt gives the Saints the lead with 4:50 to go in the half with a layup off a pass from Laney Baker (19-17).
• First year Anna Drakeford (Hrrodsburg, KY / Mercer County) knocks down a three pointer of an assist from sophomore Desiree Tandy (Danville, KY / Danville) to make it a 24 to 22 game.
• Morgan Hunt follows with a three pointer to extend the Saint lead to five with 1:14 to go in the half.
• Thomas More takes a 29 to 24 lead into the break.
• Thomas More shot 10-38 (26.3%) from the field, 4-22 (18.2%) from three and 5-9 (55.6%) from the free throw line for the half.
• Sereniti Webb led the Saints with a double double in the first half of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

• A Morgan Hunt three pointer opens the second half scoring for the Saints, giving TMU a 32 to 25 lead.
• Sereniti Webb finds her way inside for a bucket off an assist from Rylee Turner as Thomas More leads 34 to 28 with 6:44 to go in the third.
• Desiree Tandy hits a three pointer off an assist from junior Alaina Keeney (Wheelersburg, OH / Wheelersburg) to end a Tiffin run (37-32).
• Thomas More leads after three 38 to 37.
• With 7:18 to go, Sereniti Webb makes a layup to cut it back to a one point game.
• Alaina Keeney makes back to back buckets as Thomas More get it back to one with the score 45 to 44 in favor of Tiffin with 4:46 to go.
• Alaina Keeney continues her scoring run with a three pointer with 2:58 to go as Tiffin leads 49 to 47.
• WIth 2:09 to go, Sereniti Webb converts an and-one to give Thomas More a 50 to 49 lead.
• Thomas More falls 56 to 52.
• Thomas More shot 19-71 (26.8%) from the field, 7-42 (16.7%) from three and 7-12 (58.3%) from the free throw line for the game.

• Sereniti Webb led Thomas More with a double double. She tallied team highs in points with 19 and rebounds with 15.
• Rylee Turner tallied a team high 4 assists to go with 4 rebounds and 2 points.

Thomas More returns on Thursday (February 13th) when they travel to Pepper Pike, OH to take on Ursuline. Tip-off at 5:30 PM.
