Men's Basketball Defeats Tiffin at Home

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University men's basketball team defeated Tiffin on Saturday afternoon (Feb 8), 62-57. The Saints overall record improved to 15-8 and 10-6 in conference.

• Junior Mitchell Rylee (Ft. Mitchell, Ky./Covington Catholic) made a layup to kick off the scoring for the Saints with 18:35 on the clock to tie things up at 2-2.
• With 15:36 on the clock, senior Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) banged a 3-point basket to extend the Saints lead to 15-4.
• Senior Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) hit a jump shot with 11:43 left in the half to make it a 19-10 game.
• First year Tyler Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) drove to the basket for a layup to put the Saints up 24-16 with 7:27 to play in the half.
• Redshirt first year Kai Simpson (Lexington, Ky./Frederick Douglass) made a layup for the final basket of the half as time expired to help the Saints lead 32-28 at the half.
• Kai Simpson led with 14 points and had one rebound and one assist.
• Mitchell Rylee tallied for rebounds to lead the Saints and had four points.
• The Saints were 52.2% (12-23) from the field, 36.4% (4-11) from the 3-point line, and 66.7% (4-6) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Casey George started the second half off with a jump shot in the paint to put the Saints up 34-28 with 19:01 to play.
• Junior Ryan Paris (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) drained a 3-point basket with 13:24 on the clock to make it a 37-35 game.
• With 8:20 to play, Casey George hit a 3-point basket to put the Saints up by 11 (50-39).
• Kai Simpson made a layup with 1:01 remaining to make it a 59-51 game.
• Ryan Paris knocked in a free throw for the final point of the game with 14 seconds left to play to secure the Sants 62-57 win over the Dragons.
• Casey George tallied 15 points and two assists to lead the team in the second half and five rebounds.
• Mitchell Rylee had 11 rebounds to lead the Saints.
• Wyatt Vieth followed with nine points and two rebounds and had two assists to lead the team.
• The Saints were 40.7% (11-27) from the field, 40% (4-10) from the 3-point line, and 44.4% (4-9) from the 3-point line.

• Casey George led with 17 points and had six rebounds and two assists.
• Wyatt Vieth had 15 points and two rebounds and led the team with three assists.
• Mitchell Rylee had a career high 15 rebounds and had four points and one assist.
• Kai Simpson had 16 points, three rebounds, and one assist.
• The Saints were 46% (23-50) from the field, 38.1% (8-21) from the 3-point line, and 53.3% (8-15) from the free throw line.

The Saints return next Thursday (Feb 13) in the Connor Convocation Center at 7:00 pm ET against Cedarville.
