Men's Basketball Picks Up Conference Win Over Cedarville

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's men's basketball team defeated Cedarville on Thursday evening (Feb 13), 88-82. The Saints overall record improves to 16-8 and 11-6 in conference.

• Senior Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) knocked in two free throw to start the game off with 19:25 on the clock to put the Saints on the board 2-0.
• With 13:43 on the clock, senior Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) drove to the rim for a layup to tie things up at 11-11.
• Redshirt first year Kai Simpson (Lexington, Ky./Frederick Douglass) made a layup to put the Saints within one with 10:07 to play (19-20).
• Junior Mitchell Rylee (Ft. Mitchell, Ky./Covington Catholic) would drive to the basket to a lay a ball in to tie things up at 29-29 with 6:47 to play in the first half.
• Mitchell Rylee would make the Saints final basket of the half with 1:41 to play (38-40).
• The Saints would trail 42-38 at the half.
• Mitchell Rylee tallied 10 points to lead the team and had three rebounds.
• Kai Simpson also led with 10 points and had three rebounds and one assist.
• Casey George recorded five rebounds to lead the team in the second half and had nine points.
• The Saints were 45.5% (15-33) from the field, 22.2% (2-9) from the 3-point line, and 85.7% (6-7) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Wyatt Vieth drained a 3-point shot to kick off the second half with 19:48 to play to put the Saints within one (41-42).
• Kai Simpson made a layup in the paint to make it a 53-46 game with 15:06 to play.
• With 11:24 to play, Casey George drove to the rim for a layup to put the Saints up by 11 (61-50).
• Kai Simpson made a second chance layup to make it a 65-60 game with 7:54 on the clock.
• Mitchell Rylee knocked in two free throws with 3:59 remaining to put the Saints up 72-66.
• Casey George hit a free throw for the final point of the game with nine second left on the clock to secure the Saints 88-82 win over the Yellow Jackets.
• Casey George recorded 19 points to lead the Saints in the second half and had three rebounds and two assists.
• Kai Simpson followed with 16 points and two rebounds.
• Mitchell Rylee tallied seven rebounds and three assists to lead the team and had six points in the second half.
• The Saints were 60% (15-25) from the field, 62.5% (5-8) from the 3-point line, and 71.4% (15-21) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Casey George recorded a career high 28 points to lead the team and had eight rebounds and two assists.
• Mtichell Rylee recorded a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Saints and also a team high of three assists.
• Kai Simpson scored a career high of 26 points and had five rebounds and one assist.
• Wyatt Cieth had 13 points, five rebounds, and one assist.
• The Saints were 51.7% (30-58) from the field, 41.2% (7-17) from the 3-point line, and 75% (21-28) from the free throw line.

The Saints return Thursday (Feb 20) against Ohio Dominican in Columbus, Ohio at 7:30 pm ET.
