Saints Comeback Falls Short, Falls to McKendree at Home

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY) - The Thomas More University Women's Lacrosse team fell to McKendree on Friday (February 28th) by a final score of 19 to 14. Thomas More falls to 0-4 on the season.

  • McKendree opened the game with 3 goals to take the early lead. (0-3)
  • Junior Meg Pierani (Lawrenceburg, IN / Mercy McAuley) records her first goal of the day to get the Saints on the scoreboard.
  • McKendree answers with two more goals to make it 5 to 1.
  • Sophomore Anna Wells (West Chester, OH / Lakota West) and Meg Pierani record back to back unassisted goals to cut into the Bearcat lead. (3-5)
  • Meg Pierani answers two McKendree goals, with 2 goals of her own and one assisted by first year Elina Emmons (Fairfield, OH / Fairfield). (5-7)
  • McKendree scores three straight goals as we entered the second half and the score is 10 to 5.
  • Sophomore Alex Nunn (Loveland, OH / Loveland) ends the McKendree run with a goal off an assist from senior Gracey Robinson (Lebanon, OH / Lebanon).
  • McKendree scores to put it back to a five goal lead midway in the third.
  • Meg Pierani, sophomore Alexis Denman (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) and graduate student Kendra Yurt (Jeffersontown, KY / Mercy) cuts the lead to 2 with three consecutive goals.
  • McKendree responds with two goals to make it 13 to 9.
  • Meg Pierani finds the back of the net for her sixth goal of the night to open the fourth quarter.
  • McKendree makes it 15 to 10 with 2 more goals.
  • Kendra Yurt records her 100th career point with a goal at 11:42 to go in the game.
  • Anna Wells scores back to back goals to make it a 15 to 13 ball game.
  • Kendra Yurt answers a McKendree goal with one of her own to make it 16 to 14.
  • McKendree closes the game with 3 goals to make it 19 to 14.
