Women's Basketball Picks up Conference Opener Against Findlay

(FINDLAY, Ohio)-Thomas More University's women's basketball team defeated Findlay on Thursday evening (Dec 4), 79-63.The Saints overall record improves to 6-0 and 1-0 in conference.

First Half
  • Senior Sereniti Webb (Covington, Ky./Simon Kenton) made a layup to start things off for the Saints with 9:00 on the clock to give the Saints a 2-0 lead.
  • Sophomore Amara Jackson (Huntington, WV/Huntington) knocked down two free throws to give the Saints a 9-7 lead half way through the first quarter.
  • Junior Izzy Rotert (Harrison, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) hit a jumper to close out the score for the Saints in the first quarter with 26 second remaining (17-17).
  • The Saints would trail 17-18 at the end of the first quarter.
  • Sereniti Webb made a layup to start off the second quarter for the Saints with 7:46 to play in the half (19-20).
  • Junior Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, Ohio/Tri-Village) drove to the rim for a layup with 4:51 on the clock to put the Saints within one (23-24).
  • Redshirt sophomore Rylee Leonard (Sardina, Ohio/Eastern Brown) made a layup with three seconds remaining for the final basket of the half to give the Saints a 34-33 lead going into the locker room at the half.
  • Rylee Leonard led the Saints in the first half with 11 points and five assists and had two rebounds.
  • Sereniti Webb followed with eight points and one rebounds.
  • The Saints were 54.2% (13-24) from the field, 28.6% (2-7) from the 3-point line, and 54.5% (6-11) from the free throw line in the first half.
Second Half
  • Morgan Hunt made a driving layup to start things off in the second half to put the Saints ahead 36-33 with 9:41 on the clock.
  • With 5:43 to play in the third quarter, junior Desiree Tandy (Danville, Ky./Danville) drove to the rim for a layup to extend the Saints lead to 46-38.
  • Sereniti Webb made a layup to close out the scoring for the Saints in the third quarter with 41 seconds to go (55-46).
  • The Saints would lead 55-50 at the end of the third quarter.
  • Sereniti Webb started things off in the fourth quarter with a layup with 9:35 to play (57-50).
  • Izzy Rotert drove to the rim for a basket to make it a 64-55 game with 5:12 on the clock.
  • Desiree Tandy knocked in a jumper to close out the scoring for the Saints with 13 seconds left in the game (79-61).
  • The Saints secured the victory over the Oilers 79-63 to pick up their first conference win.
  • Morgan Hunt led the team in the second half with 11 points and had two assists.
  • Rylee Turner led with four rebounds and three assists and had 10 points.
  • The Saints were 58.6% (17-29) from the field, 44.4% (4-9) from the 3-point line, and 77.8% (7-9) from the free throw line in the second half.
